Hydrogen in Natural Gas with TDLAS

Blending Hydrogen (H2) with natural gas (NG) using existing pipeline networks is seen as a possible first step towards decarbonizing natural gas systems. Measuring H2 in NG with TDLAS, however, is not as simple as one might assume. The main components of NG are methane, ethane, and propane; a look into the HITRAN database reveals there is a potential for cross interference at high hydrocarbon concentration levels.
